Picked in late December 2017 and carefully processed as an oolong. After the long strike (June to October) in Darjeeling was over, the mammoth task of cleaning the fields and pruning the bushes was undertaken to bring the bushes to their regular cycle of sprouting fresh shoots and leaves. This tea was made from those first shoots and leaves. Can be brewed as an black tea, which brings out its muscat aroma or as an oolong. The lower temperature and shorter brewing time with the oolong method tends to make it slightly more astringent and floral. Could be the best Darjeeling we have had in years. Small lot that Glenburn Estate contacted us directly and offered us the entire lot. Thank you.
